![]() The PS3 exclusive arrives in the west in May. As with previous Drakengard games, gameplay is divided between hack-and-slash action and aerial combat on dragons. The story focuses on Zero, a woman who can manipulate magic through song. The game, like the rest of the series, features a mixture of ground-based hack-and-slash combat and aerial battles. Zero has rebelled against the group and determined to kill them - although officially we don't yet know why. Drakengard 3 (originally released in Japan as Drag-On Dragoon 3) is the third game in the Drakengard series and a prequel to the original game. It tells the story of six magical Intoner sisters, who descended from the heavens to bring peace to the land. It's not clear whether this piece of DLC, which is not yet available in Japan, is the one Square Enix will ship with the boxed special edition coming to North America that DLC is known to make One playable, so it may be the same thing.ĭrakengard 3 is itself a prequel to the other two games in the series (and is related somehow to spin-off Nier). Downloadable Content in Drakengard 3 consists of extra outfits for Zero, extra outfits for Mikhail, remixed BGM tracks from other games in the Drakengard series, Prologue Scenarios for the Intoner Sisters, PSN themes and a Japanese Voice-Over Pack for the english release of the game. And horrible as it is, that last boss is an experience.Drakengard 3 will be supported with DLC set before the events of the main story, allowing players to take control of Zero's sisters.ĭrawing on Japanese reports from the latest issue of Dengeki, Siliconera reports the prequel DLC will offer the chance to play as each of Zero's five sisters (whose names are One through Five). Though I'll admit there's a certain allure to playing something like this rather than watching. And the very last boss is a punishment from hell. It's just mindless hack n slash without any satisfaction, sometimes starox style dragon shooting and rarely some basic platforming. Also the music is awesome.īut it's a GAME at the end of the day, and sadly, playing it isn't much fun. The story takes it's sweet time getting interesting (or even good) and you'll have to read supplementary material from the web but it's just one beautiful thing in that regard. Now as a very interesting piece of media, yeah, definitely. Gameplay is crap, graphics are ps2 era level, framerate is just godawful, I can't believe how they could possibly butcher performance so much. Was on the same boat as you, borrowed a friend's ps3 and bought the game (even the dlcs). I think its worth exploring the story and its place in the combined universe (the Drakengard-Nier-NierAutomata universe), but in the end that's just my opinion. I enjoyed playing it a lot, however its a game I wouldn't recommend like I would with, say for example, Nier Automata. Weapons levels 1-3 As you progress through the game, you can receive and find new weapons. Would I recommend it? Yes BUT it is simply not for everyone. A community for the Nier/Nier Automata & Drakengard trilogy. However I also understand a lot of people think the game is lackluster, boring and stupid. I LOVE the music of Drakengard 3, I personally like the story and its characters. DLC has some of the best story content so its worth it. ![]() 3 Very flawed but I love it very very much as well. The final boss is something special and 100 worth experiencing. the DLC is almost a necessity to fully appreciate the story, and the final boss will guarantee at least a handful of rage quits, possibly leaving you to just look up the short ending on youtube. While I think the fight itself is bullshit gameplay whise, I also love it story whise and feel like it does fit the narrative of the story. Hows the DLC It never went on sale (unlike the base game) but it sounds meaty. Is it worth it to boot up the old PS3 and give it a play through consideting I have a huge backlog of PS4 games. I've never beaten the final boss in branch D. Under some of their main traits, some do have character development. I feel under their some what more "extreme" personality traits, they are broken people who try to deal with all kinds of issues and that doesn't always work out well for them. The frame rate would make an N64 blush but it's fun to play and you won't get the most out of it just watching summaries on Youtube. Ignore Drakengard 2 unless you're really curious. I understand why they are the way they are. Watch videos on Youtube and read that LP for Drakengard 1. I personally do like the characters, with maybe one exeption. Some people hate the characters and think they are edgy, loud and stupid, some cringe when they hear certain characters talk or interact with each other. The game has some huge issues with framerate and the gameplay sometimes is pretty repetitive. It doesn't do anything to change the medium. Yes the gameplay is grindy, its nothing special or new. I love Drakengard 3! However I know the game is full of flaws, for me the gameplay is not that much of an issue.
